A couple years ago, I finished school at College of Charleston with an English degree. For a while afterward, I found myself pretty uninspired. It took some time for me to realize that I needed to try to maneuver my life in a direction that would perhaps leave me a little more satisfied.
Creatively, I found myself becoming more and more passionate about learning how to cook. Cooking is really the only interest/hobby that has held my attention for any given period of time. Growing up, my mom taught me basic cooking techniques, how to follow a recipe, and how to be comfortable in a kitchen, but I decided that I wanted to learn more. After a lot of soul-searching, I decided to enroll in culinary school at the Culinary Institute of Charleston. Now that that's behind me, I feel like I've managed to gain a little momentum career-wise.

With momentum, I'd like to think there comes some focus. After spending the past year in the back of house in Charleston, SC, I'm on my way to Colorado, with plans to continue cooking, learning, and sharpening my skills. It's wide open, but I'm feeling positive and I'm looking forward to a change.
It has become apparent to me that food is the most enjoyable constant in my life. That's why I decided to start this blog: to document this developing culinary side of my life. I'm happy to be writing again. For once, I'm feeling creatively inspired, and at least that's a step in the right direction.
